RECO installs 4 temporary passenger lifts in Stockholm for Swedish Railways
The railway line between Örebro and Stockholm (Mälarbanan) is being doubled from 2 to 4 tracks over a length of 8 km by contracting company PEAB. PEAB has asked RECO Lift Solutions to keep the intermediate stations (Kallhäll 2014 and Barkarby 2015) accessible during the station modernisation barrier. The project started in 2013 and will be completed in 2016.
No compromise on comfort when it comes to temporary railway crossings
The Swedish Transport Administration has prescribed that no concessions must be made to passenger comfort during the station modernisations. With the hiring of temporary RECO passenger lifts, PEAB has met this requirement. The four temporary RECO passenger lifts of the PP type (Plug & Play) will be leased for a period of almost 160 weeks. The lifts will be installed at the ends of two temporary footbridges crossing the railway tracks. The project is characterised by a tight construction schedule with limited working space at the stations. The fact that the RECO PP passenger lift can be installed in no more than 4 hours was an important argument for PEAB to choose the RECO PP passenger lift.
The RECO PP temporary passenger lift: fast, safe and reliable
Thanks to the closed lift shaft, the RECO PP passenger lift is operational in all weather conditions. As a result, passengers are assured of high reliability. The standard RECO lift car is similar to the existing familiar cabins, which contributes to the user-friendliness of the RECO PP passenger lift. The quiet traction drive (0.8 m/s) guarantees a high transport capacity. With the choice of temporary RECO passenger lifts, Swedish Transport Administration is setting a new standard in the Swedish railway market. Safe, comfortable and barrier-free access to the track is thus guaranteed for train passengers.
